Concussion Services
As a neuropsychologist with education, training, and experience in understanding and assessing brain-behavior relationships, Dr. Marowitz has applied this expertise to evaluation and management of concussive injuries. In addition to working with athletes of all levels, he has provided consultation to numerous high school and college programs to develop and update their sports concussion protocols. He has served as the team neuropsychologist for the Springfield Thunderbirds (formerly Springfield Falcons) for more than a decade. If you or your child (8 years or older) have suffered a concussion and are seeking evaluation, management and recovery guidance (including return to learn/work and return to play decisions), the following services are offered.
Initial Assessment
A 90- to 120-minute interview and examination that includes review of the patient’s history (including available medical records), review of the mechanism of injury, evaluation of symptoms and assessment of cognitive, emotional, vestibular, oculomotor and balance function. Based on the findings, concussion education and individually-tailored guidance regarding recovery protocols, return to learn for students, return to work, and return to play for athletes seeking to resume sports competition will be offered. The individual (or their parent/guardian) will receive a written report detailing the assessment and recommendations and, when appropriate, documentation requesting accommodations and support for those in the return to learn/work process.
$750
Follow Up Appointments
If needed, one-hour follow-up assessments can be scheduled to evaluate an individual’s progress toward recovery, potential reduction/removal of previously-needed supports/restrictions, adjustment to guidance/treatment interventions and, for athletes, clearance for return-to-play activities. As appropriate, updated documentation of recovery progress and evidence for school/work accommodations and supports are provided.
