Adult Services

Anchored in research and clinical experience, adult-focused neuropsychological assessment can help to differentiate between neurological and psychiatric conditions, establish an individual’s baseline cognitive abilities before a problem arises, determine if a change in cognitive functioning has occurred, identify the potential cause(s) of cognitive difficulties, guide treatment planning and interventions, and connect individual’s with appropriate resources in the community.

Intake Interview

The intake interview provides the neuropsychologist time to learn about your concerns and to gain a clear understanding of what answers you are seeking from a neuropsychological assessment. The neuropsychologist will talk with you about your symptoms, daily functioning, and medical/psychological history. Based on the information gathered from the interview, combined with review of available medical records, preliminary recommendations will be offered, including if proceeding with the testing component of a neuropsychological evaluation is appropriate. If assessment is warranted, the testing appointment will be scheduled on a different day.

Comprehensive Adult Neuropsychological Assessments

Comprehensive Adult evaluations are designed for adults (age 21+) in need of evaluation due to potential changes in their cognitive functioning related to confirmed or suspected neurological conditions or injuries. These evaluations can objectively measure cognitive changes, their severity, and identify which cognitive domains are disrupted or intact. The appropriate assessment tools are determined based on individual need, though typically include tests of intellectual functioning, memory, executive functioning, attention, processing efficiency, visuospatial skills, language, fine-motor skills, and screening of emotional and behavioral functioning. The evaluation includes administration, scoring, and interpretation of neuropsychological tests (by Dr. Marowitz), a feedback meeting with the patient (and family, when appropriate), and a comprehensive written report.

Comprehensive Older Adult Neuropsychological Assessments

Comprehensive Older Adult evaluations are designed for those age 60 and older with concerns about cognitive changes potentially reflecting a developing dementia process. These assessments similarly target the cognitive domains of memory, language, executive functioning, attention, processing efficiency, visuospatial skills, general intellectual functioning, fine-motor skills, and screening of emotional and behavioral functioning; however, measures most effective in identifying (or ruling out) underlying causes of dementia are used. This evaluation includes the testing session, a feedback appointment with the patient (and family, when appropriate), and a comprehensive written report.  $2,000

Adult Baseline Cognitive Screening

This evaluation is designed for adults with family history of dementia (e.g., Alzheimer’s Disease, Vascular Dementia, Lewy Body Dementia, Frontotemporal Dementia) or medical conditions that increase risk for developing dementia. This evaluation is most appropriate for adults who do not have current changes/issues with thinking skills. Rather, this focused assessment provides an objective baseline of an individual’s cognitive functioning prior to potential development of cognitive changes. This is not a diagnostic evaluation. Data from this type of evaluation can be utilized for  future comparison, should concern of cognitive changes arise. This evaluation includes an intake interview, the testing session,  a brief summary of the results, and an optional phone discussion (if requested) to answer follow-up questions.

Adult Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Assessments

Adult ADHD evaluations are offered on a tiered basis, due to the varying complexity and comorbidities of each individual. In some cases, a detailed intake interview, review of records, and structured questionnaires may be sufficient to determine if an individual meets criteria for this condition. In other instances, more extensive assessments, including measures of emotional, behavioral, and cognitive functioning may be required. After an initial intake (described above), Dr. Marowitz will provide a rationale for what assessment approach would be most appropriate and the associated cost.

$1,500-$3,000

Additional Follow-up Services

After the assessment is completed, additional services may include letters of support, review of additional records (including a second opinion regarding testing done elsewhere), additional follow-up with other providers, and/or phone/email/in-person follow-up with individuals or their family members (that requires more than 15 minutes).

$150 per 30 minutes.
